13th Session of the Governing Board of IICBA Held

IICBA’s Governing Board held its 13th Annual Meeting in Addis Ababa, on 25- 26, November 2011. The opening of the meeting was addressed by Mme Lalla Aicha Ben Barka, Assistant Director General for Africa (ADG/AFR), who represented the DG at the meeting.  In her speech, Mme. Ben Barka reiterated the support of UNESCO HQ to the important work that IICBA is doing in Africa, and called on the Members of the Board to redouble their efforts to assist the Institute in raising funds for its activities.

 IICBA’s Governing Board Meeting was also attended by two colleagues from the UNESCO International Centre for Research and Training in Rural Education (INRULED) Dr. Zhao Yuchi and Dr. Zeng Haijun, who were on a visit to IICBA to discuss areas of cooperation between the two institutions. 

The Governing Board listened to the reports of activities and finance over the one year period since its last meeting and the planned activities and budget for the next two years.  The Board was also briefed about the office building that the Ethiopian Government has graciously agreed to construct for the Institute.

The meeting ended with suggestions and recommendations on the alignment of activities and raising of extra-budgetary resources for programme implementation.
